God's Word Says:

Sin  separates us from God.  We cannot rid ourselves of sin.  There is nothing we can do to bridge the separation gap that sin causes between us and God.  We have no human means for being righteous enough for relationship with God.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  -  Romans 3:23

We are sinners by nature and by choice.

We cannot save ourselves.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith... and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God...not by works, lest any man should boast.  -  Ephesians 2:8-9

We deserve death and hell.

For the wages of sin is death.  -  Romans 6:23a

God is holy and perfectly just therefore sin must be punished.  Yet, he loves us and does not want us to perish.  He has provided for the forgiveness of our sin.   Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."   John 14:6

Good news!  God has provided a means of salvation.
